I feel that most negetivity between people comes from a lack of understanding and failure to communicate. When I was the lead concierge at the DVORA Art House, I witnessed all types of interactions – mostly positive, but occasionally tense, frustrated or otherwise. Simply listening and observing these interactions taught me a lot about people. Because of this experience, I have come to appreciate the importance of mutual respect to enable lasting relationships.
I take pride in creating a welcoming, family-oriented atmosphere. My role is a very personal one! When you get to know the residents on such a personal level, and if you have the open heart to allow it, they truly become very close friends. I’m very connected with the residents. I pretty much know when they wake, eat, work, sleep, if they have kids or pets… it’s kinda strange to say that out loud, but I know the sentiment is mutual.
In your opinion, what does this world need to make it a happier, more connected place?
Communication is the key and so is being understanding. Elevate your perspective to see from the other person’s viewpoint, and a lot of misunderstanding can be diffused.
